Client Overview
Our client is a leading life insurance company operating across India, distributing policies through a large network of individual agents, corporate agents and bancassurance tie-ups, alongside a growing direct and digital sales channel.
Like most life insurers at scale, the business depends on three very different groups of people learning three very different things:
- Insurance agents — largely commission-led, geographically dispersed, and required by IRDAI to complete mandated training hours before licensing and at renewal, alongside ongoing product and ethics training
- Sales managers and channel teams — responsible for recruiting, coaching and driving productivity across agent teams, needing both product depth and people-management skills
- Corporate and branch employees — operations, underwriting support, claims, customer service and support functions, needing onboarding, compliance and functional training
Each group sits on a different training obligation, a different learning cadence and a different risk profile if training is skipped or undocumented — and until this engagement, all three were being managed largely in isolation.
The Challenge: Three Audiences, No Common Record
When we began working with the client’s L&D and compliance leadership, the picture was one familiar to most Indian life insurers scaling their distribution force.
1. Agent training was inconsistent across the network
New agent induction, product training and renewal training were delivered through a mix of classroom sessions at regional offices, PDF decks circulated by email, and ad hoc trainer visits. Quality and completion varied by region, and agents in smaller towns were consistently underserved relative to metro branches.
2. IRDAI-mandated training hours were hard to evidence
Life insurance agents are subject to defined training-hour requirements at licensing and renewal, and the company’s persistency and conduct expectations layer further training obligations on top. Attendance registers and trainer sign-off sheets are not audit-grade evidence. When a regulatory or internal audit asked “prove this agent completed the required hours,” the honest answer took days to assemble and was not always complete.
3. Sales performance and product knowledge were disconnected from training
Sales managers had no reliable way to see which agents in their team had completed product training before a new plan launch, or which agents were falling behind on renewal requirements. Product launches routinely outran the training that was supposed to precede them.
4. Scale and geography worked against consistency
A pan-India agency force spread across metros, tier-2 and tier-3 towns cannot be trained through recurring in-person sessions alone. Any solution had to reach agents on the device they actually use, in the time they actually have, without requiring them to travel to a regional office.
5. Employees, agents and sales teams needed different journeys — on one system
The company did not want three separate systems for three separate audiences. It wanted one platform that could tell an agent’s compliance story, a sales manager’s team-productivity story and an employee’s onboarding story, without forcing all three into an identical curriculum.
6. The platform had to carry the company’s own brand
Agents interact with the insurer’s brand daily — its products, its app, its communication. A generic, third-party-branded training portal would have looked like an outside tool bolted onto the business, rather than part of how the company runs.
The brief, in one line: deliver a single branded learning platform that trains agents, sales teams and employees on their own tracks, while making IRDAI-mandated training hours provable on demand.
Why the Client Selected GroomLMS
The evaluation came down to five capabilities:
- Role-based learning journeys that could serve agents, sales managers and employees separately from one deployment, rather than three disconnected systems
- IRDAI-aligned compliance tracking, built to produce individual-level, timestamped evidence of training-hour completion at licensing and renewal
- A ready sales, product and soft-skills content library, deep enough to go live without a multi-month content build
- True white-labelling — the client’s own domain, branding and certificates, with no vendor marks visible to agents or employees
- Turnkey delivery — one partner accountable for infrastructure, deployment, branding, content, credentialing and support, so the client’s own L&D team was not left to implement a platform on top of its day job
GroomLMS, operated by Helios Learntech Private Limited, has been recognised among India’s most promising learning management systems by Silicon India in 2023, 2025 and 2026, and as a Leading Ed-Tech Organisation by EDTALK World in 2025. What closed the evaluation, however, was seeing agent, sales and compliance training run as three journeys inside one coherent system.
The GroomLMS Solution: A Turnkey Learning Ecosystem
A dedicated, single-tenant cloud instance
The client’s platform runs on infrastructure provisioned and operated exclusively for them, logically and physically segregated from every other GroomLMS customer, and sized for the full agent and employee base with headroom for network growth.
Complete white-labelling
The academy carries the client’s logo, colour palette, login banner and tone of voice, on their own branded subdomain, with system notifications from their own sender address and completion certificates carrying their name. To every agent, sales manager and employee who logs in, this is the company’s own learning platform.
Role-based learning journeys for three distinct audiences
- Agents — licensing and renewal training aligned to IRDAI training-hour requirements, product training ahead of every launch, and conduct, ethics and persistency-linked modules
- Sales managers and channel teams — everything agents receive, plus coaching, team management, recruitment and leadership tracks, with visibility into their own team’s completion status
- Corporate and branch employees — structured onboarding, statutory compliance training and role-specific functional modules
Each role is mapped to its own curriculum, its own mandatory modules and its own certification path — assigned automatically on provisioning, not managed manually by regional offices.
A content library ready on day one
Rather than a lengthy content build, the client went live with an immediately deployable catalogue spanning:
| Track | Focus | Audience |
| Agent Licensing & Renewal | IRDAI-aligned training-hour modules, product knowledge, code of conduct | Agents |
| Product Mastery | Plan features, riders, underwriting basics, claims process | Agents, Sales Managers |
| Sales Ready | Objection handling, rapport building, need-based selling, persistency and retention conversations | Agents, Sales Managers |
| Risk & Regulation Essentials | POSH, Code of Conduct, AML/KYC awareness, Whistle-blower, Business Ethics | All employees and agents |
| Cyber Awareness | Cyber-security fundamentals, data-protection basics, safe device use | All employees and agents |
| Leadership & Team Management | Coaching, recruitment, performance conversations, team productivity | Sales Managers |
| Power Skills | Communication, goal-setting, adaptability, critical thinking | All employees and agents |
Alongside the standard catalogue, we curate bespoke product-launch modules timed to the client’s own plan launches, so agents are trained ahead of a product going to market rather than catching up after it.
Compliance tracking that produces evidence
Mandated training is assigned by role, tracked to the individual agent or employee, escalated automatically when overdue ahead of licensing renewal, and certified on completion. The compliance team can now produce a complete, auditable training position — by region, by agent, by cohort — on demand rather than after days of manual collation.

Implementation: Under 4 Weeks from Signature to Live Platform
Week 1 — Provisioning and discovery. Dedicated infrastructure provisioned. Platform identity, custom domain and SSL confirmed. Brand assets and login-page content collected. Agent, sales manager and employee role structures mapped to learning journeys.
Week 2 — Configuration and content. White-labelling applied end to end. Agent licensing, product, sales and compliance tracks enabled. Assessment logic and certificate templates configured for each role. Regional and language requirements confirmed.
Week 3 — Content curation and UAT. Bespoke product-training modules curated in partnership with the client’s product and training teams. IRDAI-aligned training-hour tracking configured and tested. UAT environment released for client review.
Week 4 — Credentialing and go-live. Agent and employee credentials generated and issued for the first provisioning wave, distributed for allocation across regional offices and branches. The platform went live on the client’s branded domain.
Results and Impact
| Outcome | Result |
| Time to live platform | Under 4 weeks from contract execution |
| Agents, sales managers and employees onboarded | 15,000+ in the first provisioning wave |
| Content live at launch | Multi-track library spanning agent licensing, product, sales and compliance training |
| IRDAI-linked training-hour evidence | Individual-level, timestamped and audit-ready |
| Platform availability commitment | 99.5% monthly, with service credits |
| Vendor branding visible to agents/employees | None — fully white-labelled |
Beyond the numbers, four changes matter most to the client:
Agent training became consistent regardless of geography. An agent in a tier-3 town now receives the same structured, assessed training as an agent in a metro branch.
Compliance became provable. IRDAI-linked training-hour completion is now evidenced at the individual agent level, ready to present at renewal or audit without a scramble.
Product launches and training now move together. Sales managers can confirm their team has completed product training before a launch, rather than finding out afterward who has and hasn’t.
Growth stopped being a training bottleneck. Onboarding the next wave of agents is a provisioning action, not a fresh project for the L&D team.
Client Perspective
“Our agent network is our business, and until this platform, we had no consistent, defensible way to train them or prove it. GroomLMS gave us one system that speaks to agents, sales managers and employees differently but reports on all of them the same way. Having IRDAI-linked training hours evidenced at the individual level, rather than reconstructed from registers, has changed how our compliance team operates.”

Lessons for Insurance L&D and Compliance Leaders
Training-hour compliance needs to be a system output, not a manual reconstruction. If proving completion takes your team days of collation, you do not have a compliance record — you have a paper trail waiting to fail an audit.
Agents, sales managers and employees are not one audience wearing different hats. They need different curricula, different cadences and different reporting — from one platform, not three.
A ready content library beats a platform waiting to be filled. Going live with product, sales and compliance tracks on day one means agents form a training habit before the next product launch outruns them.
Geography should not determine training quality. Mobile-first, self-paced delivery closes the gap between metro and tier-2/tier-3 agent training that classroom-only models cannot close.
Sequence around what agents actually need first. Licensing and renewal compliance tracks going live before every secondary integration is finished moved training forward by weeks with no loss of function.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can an LMS handle IRDAI-mandated agent training-hour requirements?
Yes. Training is assigned by role, tracked to the individual agent, and certified on completion, producing timestamped, audit-ready evidence at licensing and renewal.
Can one platform serve agents, sales managers and employees differently?
Yes. Role-based learning journeys let a single GroomLMS deployment run separate curricula, assessments and certifications for each audience while reporting through one system.
Can GroomLMS be fully white-labelled for an insurance brand?
Yes. The platform runs on the client’s own domain with their logo, colours, login banner, sender address and branded certificates. No GroomLMS marks are shown to agents or employees.
How long does an agent and sales training platform take to launch?
This deployment reached live, branded and credentialed status in under 4 weeks from contract execution. Timelines depend on brand-asset readiness and content scope.
Does GroomLMS support product-launch training?
Yes. Bespoke product-training modules can be curated ahead of each launch, timed to the client’s own release calendar.
Does GroomLMS work for agents in tier-2 and tier-3 locations?
Yes. The platform is mobile-first and multilingual, so agents can train on the device they already use, wherever they are based.
